The Sonoran Desert is characterized by extreme heat, dryness, isolation, and rugged terrain. A nine-meter-high border wall cuts through the desert, separating the United States from Mexico. About 30 kilometers east of the border town of Sasabe, Arizona, the wall ends abruptly. At the site known as the "End of the Wall," only hills and ravines continue to mark the border. There, in one of the most remote stretches of the border, where there is no electricity, no water, and no sign of civilization, people cross at night, either to seek asylum or to pass through the desert undetected. Volunteers operate a camp there, on the U.S. side of the border, providing water, food, and information. The film tells the story of people crossing the Sonoran Desert and of those who are there when they arrive.
